The benefits of imperfect action in business
EPISODE 31
Notes
Do you feel held back in your business and life by perfectionism?
I know I certainly was.
I used to spend hours perfecting Instagram posts, only to delete them because I was too embarrassed to release them. My marketing emails often didn’t go out, because I couldn’t get them quite right and I would put off discovery calls because I wanted more time to prepare.
I am a recovering perfectionist. One of the most powerful habits I now use to address this has been imperfect action, or what I like to call scrappy action.
Apart from my excellent team, it’s the only reason I can get everything done.
Let me be clear, in my bookkeeping my team and I absolutely strive for perfection. Bookkeeping has to be right and we hold ourselves to the highest deliverables.
But for everything else in my business - social media, marketing, podcasting - imperfect action keeps me moving forward in life and business.
In this episode I give you some examples of what imperfect action looks like in my life and how taking action and doing the thing is the only way you’ll learn what needs to be done next.
I’m proud of my scrappy action and I truly credit it with taking me to new and big places in my business and life. I hope this helps you integrate more scrappy action into your life, so you can get those ideas out of your head and into the world.
